Some Elvis aficionados were “all shook up” when former President Trump likened himself to the King.
President Joe Biden on Saturday deemed the 2024 presidential race the “weirdest campaign” he’s ever been a part of — as Trump took to social media to ask his followers if they agree he looks like Elvis Presley.
Trump shared a photo of half of his face alongside half of Presley’s in a post to Truth Social Saturday, writing, “For so many years, people have been saying that Elvis and I look alike. Now this pic has been going all over the place. What do you think?”
It’s unclear what prompted Trump to share the bizarre mashed-up image, which had many social media users asking the former president: “Are You Lonesome Tonight?”
Few validated Trump’s belief that he resembles Presley — and many were quick to mock him by posting edits of half of his face alongside Adolf Hitler, Vladimir Putin and an ooma loompa.
“Trump says he’s an Elvis look alike. Hopefully he will soon be doing the Jailhouse Rock. #TrumpIsNotWell,” one social media user wrote on X.
An account called Republicans Against Trump shared the post alongside the Mayo Clinic’s definition of narcissistic personality disorder.
Democratic strategist Johnny Palmadessa wrote Trump “clearly has dementia,” listing off numerous blunders Trump has made on the campaign trail, including speaking as if former President Barack Obama was still in office and mixing up GOP candidate Nikki Haley with ex-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
“He says he’s “winning” his New York fraud trial, but the trial is over. He lost. He just compared himself to Elvis because he believes they “look alike.” Donald Trump needs to drop out of the race. He needs to seek help,” he wrote.
Former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann had a similar response, writing, “Dementia J. Trump now trying to convince his cult he’s somehow like Elvis Presley. You mean both brain dead since 1977? You bet!”
Another X user joked, “If you believe Trump looks like Elvis do yourself a favor and stay out of any bar near closing time.”
The 77-year-old former president’s bizarre social media post trailed after remarks Biden made on Saturday about his opponent’s erratic behavior.
“I’m feeling good about where we are, I really am,” Biden said during a speech in Wilmington, Del., near his family home, according to The Hill. “You know, folks are starting to focus in and the guy we’re running against, he is — he’s not for anything, he’s against everything.”
“And no, I mean it, it’s the weirdest campaign I’ve ever been engaged in, it’s even worse in terms of his behavior than the last time in 2020,” he added.
Biden won the South Carolina Democratic primary on Saturday.
The Palmetto State won’t have its Republican primary until Feb. 24, when Trump will go up against former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley.
Trump is currently leading Haley by 26% in the polls there.
