Linda Scotson on the Kate Shemirani Show - 18 August 2024 alister
GUEST OVERVIEW: Linda Scotson’s early career as an artist encouraged her to look closely at the finer details of disability. She noticed two things. Firstly, the unusual shape of the chests of disabled children, which was obvious in some but more subtle in others. The second was that it was often possible to hear disabled children breathing in a laboured or irregular pattern.
Eventually bursting with ideas and questions, she turned to University College London, and with the help of Professor Patrick Wall, head of the University’s Cerebral Studies Department, she found herself accepted into the Department of Neuroscience as a PhD student.
