Pelle Neroth Taylor on the Dirk Pohlman Show - 17 August 2024 alister
On August 6th and 9th 1945 the USA dropped the first atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Hardly anybody knows there was a German survivor of Hiroshima, the Jesuit priest and later philosophy professor Helmut Erlinghagen. He survived in the rectory of the Jesuits with 7 other priests, only 4.5 kilometers from the hypocenter. His apocalyptic experience as a young man, which resulted in lifelong health problems, his extraordinary expertise in Japanese culture and his expertise as ethics professor at the famous Sophia university in Tokyo led to a profound analysis of the ethics of nuclear weapons. TNT host Dirk Pohlmann was a student of Prof. Erlinghagen at Mainz university and helped him to get recognition in German media in the mid eighties. Pelle Neroth and Dirk Pohlmann will explore some of the most important thoughts of Erlinghagen.
