More than 10,000 cups and plates made in China meant for sale in the UK as part of the Monarch’s celebrations include an error recalling Del Boy’s famous catchphrase from the hit comedy Only Fools and Horses. Instead of “jubilee” the merchandise says: “To commemorate the platinum jubbly of Queen Elizabeth II”.

Clearance website boss Karl Baxter said that in classic Del Boy-style he will pitch the ceramics as collectors’ items.

He told the BBC: “What could be more unique than our limited-edition misprinted crockery?”

The goods are now being offered by Wholesale Clearance, which specialises in bankrupt stock and discontinued lines, after the UK buyer decided not to take the goods due to the error.

They are being advertised as souvenir stock with a “slight” typo mistake and a 90 percent discount.

The website promises: “Become an Only Fools and Horses fan and wow your friends with your Lovely Jubbly set!”

Wholesale Clearance hopes to sell the misprinted cups, mugs and commemorative plates as a single lot to retailers. A spokesman for the firm told the BBC: “There’s a market for everything”.

Mr Baxter said: “This could be your chance to get your hands on a novelty souvenir for a fraction of the price.”

Only Fools And Horses character Del Boy, from the classic BBC sitcom, is known for his “lovely jubbly” catchphrase and dodgy money-making schemes.

Andy White, of Wholesale Clearance, based in Poole, Dorset, told the PA news agency: “It’s a bit of fun.

The stock is for sale as a bulk lot for £32,400 with Wholesale Clearance suggesting a buyer could make a potential profit in excess of £291,492.

The Platinum Jubilee will mark the 70th anniversary of the accession of Queen Elizabeth II on February 6, 1952.

Celebration plans were formally unveiled in full by Buckingham Palace in January.

These include communities coming together for National Thank You Day on June 5.

It is being promoted as a chance for a grateful nation to pay reverence to a Monarch who has led by example.

However, it will also be a way of showing gratitude to the emergency services, everyone we have relied on, the people we could not have managed without, and those who have battled tirelessly throughout the pandemic.

Organisers hope well over 10 million people will take part, making it the biggest mass gathering in history.

Big-name backers include England football manager Gareth Southgate, TV’s Lorraine Kelly, Great British Bake Off judge Prue Leith, Daily Express columnist Alan Titchmarsh and actor Ross Kemp.

Mr Kemp, 57, said: “Let’s celebrate by making it the biggest Thank You Party this country has ever seen.”
